Online shopping is convenient for consumers but it also poses certain challenges for product Safety.

The European Commission published its latest report on the Commission’s system to prevent or restrict the selling of dangerous products on the market, the so-called ‘Rapid Alert System‘.

The report shows that the number of alerts sent to the system increased progressively over the years and since 2012 has stayed just above 2,000 alerts a year.  

According to the report, toys were the most notified product category (29% of total notifications), followed by motor vehicles (23%), and clothing, textiles and fashion ítems (8%). Cosmetics, electrical appliances and equipment, as well as childcare articles and children’s equipment also had a high number of alerts
