An open-access and multilingual online hub co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, connecting freelancers, educators, and policymakers across Europe.

As Europe’s labour market continues to evolve, the ability to adapt, learn, and innovate is becoming essential for all professionals — especially for freelancers, who stand at the intersection of independence and uncertainty. To address these needs, the FREELANCER Digital Platform has been developed as the central output of the FREELANCER project, co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The platform is a comprehensive digital environment designed to help users build the skills and knowledge needed for self-employment, digital entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. It also serves as a valuable reference tool for Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, policymakers, and other employability stakeholders who aim to align their training offer with the realities of the modern economy.

Entirely free and available in five languages, the platform brings together all project results in an intuitive and engaging format. Each section represents a distinct building block of the FREELANCER journey — from understanding market challenges to applying practical solutions:

  • Project Section – Setting the Scene

This section introduces the mission, objectives, and structure of the FREELANCER project. It outlines how the initiative supports digital transformation and employability through European cooperation, innovation, and capacity-building in VET.

  • Mapping Section – Understanding the Challenges

The Mapping phase represents the foundation of the project. Here, users can explore the results of a cross-country analysis that identifies trends, challenges, and key digital skills relevant to digital entrepreneurship. This work package provided crucial insight into the skills gap and training needs of freelancers at both national and EU levels, shaping the content of the training modules that followed.

  • Training Section – Learning by Doing

At the heart of the platform are the innovative training modules, developed in response to the mapping findings. These materials equip freelancers and aspiring entrepreneurs with the digital, managerial, and business competences needed to build sustainable self-employment paths. Training resources are interactive, multilingual, and freely accessible to anyone wishing to strengthen their professional capacity.

  • Glossary Section – Key Concepts Made Simple

To make the learning process easier and more inclusive, the platform offers a dedicated glossary explaining key concepts in digital entrepreneurship, freelancing, and business management. It helps learners navigate complex terminology while reinforcing conceptual understanding.

  • Guidelines Section – From Training to Policy

The final section translates project experience into practical guidelines for VET providers and policymakers. These guidelines summarise lessons learned, recommendations for improving training relevance, and proposals for integrating freelancer-oriented learning into broader VET and employment ecosystems.

Together, these sections form an open-access, multilingual knowledge ecosystem that promotes digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and innovation across Europe. The platform stands as a tangible legacy of the FREELANCER partnership — supporting both individuals and institutions in building a more adaptable, future-ready workforce. 🌐 Access the platform and explore all results:
