Over 26 local participants gathered across two interactive sessions on October 6, 2025, to co-design green and digital training modules for Spain’s Intangible Cultural Heritage sector.
MÁLAGA, SPAIN — October 6, 2025 — IWS successfully organized two co-creation events in Málaga as part of the European project NICHE 2. The events brought together a total of 26 participants. The sessions gathered a diverse audience composed mainly of women, young people, learners from rural areas, artisans, and entrepreneurs interested in the intersection between intangible cultural heritage, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
Organized in close collaboration with Associate Partner Arrabal—which played a vital role in community promotion, outreach, and venue hosting—the events took place across two vibrant central Málaga locations: Plaza Uncibay (Session 1, 12 participants) and Calle Dos Aceras (Session 2, 14 participants).
Agenda, activities, and methodology:
Both sessions followed the same structure, lasting approximately one hour each and conducted through interactive in-person presentations.
- Introduction to the NICHE2 Project
The session started with a presentation of the NICHE2 project
- Presentation of WP2 Results in Spain
The second part highlighted the key findings from Work Package 2, focusing on the identification of entrepreneurial potential within the Intangible Cultural Heritage sector in Spain.
- Presentation of the NICHE2 Matrix (GreenComp Framework)
The next segment showcased the NICHE2 GreenComp Matrix, which connects the EU Green Competence Framework with the structure of the training curricula to be developed within the project
- Introduction of the Training Module “Eco-friendly Materials and Practices”
IWS presented the title, index and concept of its upcoming training module, “Eco-friendly Materials and Practices”.
- Feedback and Discussion Session
Each event concluded with an open discussion, where participants shared their perspectives, needs, and ideas for improving the forthcoming training materials.
The feedback collected from participants during both sessions was highly constructive and reflected a strong interest in the project’s goals and proposed training content. The attendees expressed enthusiasm about the project’s , emphasizing its relevance to their personal and professional contexts.
Most participants agreed that the proposed curriculum areas and training modules —particularly those integrating green and digital competences— are highly relevant to the current challenges faced by small cultural and creative businesses.
The insights gathered by IWs will serve as a foundation for the development of the NICHE 2 curriculum and operational tools. By reflecting the identified needs of the cultural heritage sector, the project will deliver training resources that effectively support ICH operators in improving their sustainability, digital, and green competences.
