On November 30, 2020, IT Solutions for All joined the online Kick-Off Meeting of SWIFT SME (Smart Working: Innovative & Flexible Training for SMEs), a Project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission, which brings together six Partners from five countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Romania and Spain). The Kick-Off Meeting, hosted by the Centrum fur Innovation und Technologie GmbH (CIT) and Institut De Haute Formation aux Politiques Communautaires asbl (IHF), was originally planned in Brussels, but has been rescheduled online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
EU SMEs represent the backbone of the EU economy. Yet, they are also the least prepared to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and the related lockdown measures. Contrarily to large companies, SMEs are ill equipped for the shift to remote work, lacking as they are both ICT systems and policies to ensure business continuity. According to the latest figures, less than 15% of EU SMEs are ready to implement Smart Working arrangements (European Commission).
The European Commission acknowledged the pressing need to make SMEs competitive and resilient by providing them with ICT solutions and practices to implement Smart Working. Not only is this transition an absolute necessity, but it also constitutes an opportunity, as it allows businesses to increase their efficiency and improve their employees’ working conditions (Eurofound/ILO).
The SWIFT project stands as a concrete response to the pressing need of equipping SMEs with new, innovative and “agile” business models.
SWIFT specifically targets this most vulnerable yet essential segment of European economies to bridge the skill gap and make SMEs more flexible, responsive, efficient and thus able to stay afloat during the COVID-19 crisis and in the post-pandemic world.
SWIFT will capitalise on the valuable experience of its consortium partners to provide SMEs with skills, competences and tailored solutions to successfully implement Smart Working arrangements. In particular, partners will carry out the following activities:
Develop the SWIFT OER Platform, a repository of knowledge accessible to all, free of charge, in full Open Access mode and in multilingual versions (DE, EN, IT, RO, ES)
Develop a shared methodology for the mapping of current trends, threats and opportunities (including technical, operational and human resource implications) and then consolidate the findings in a final report on the basis of which the training and tools will be designed
Develop the SWIFT training courses, handouts, operational tools and guidelines for European SMEs to adapt and implement Smart Working so as to stay afloat, be more responsive, efficient and competitive, all the while improving the work-life balance of their employees.
Deliver the training to 120 target groups and collect feedback to fine tune the material created
Develop guidelines to facilitate the uptake of SWIFT and its mainstreaming in VET and SME ecosystems
Put forward policy options to promote Smart Working and competitiveness of SMEs
IT Solutions for All is the technological partner of the project, especially of the IO4: REA Platform, the project website, as well as the Backoffice for the management of the project contents, and its maintenance and updating during all the SWIFT SME implementation phases, and even two years after its completion.

IWS took part in the Kick-off Meeting of NICHE – Nurturing Intangible Cultural Heritage for Entrepreneurship, a new Erasmus Plus project under the KA2 Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices – Strategic Partnerships for VET.
NICHE aims at enhancing entrepreneurship in the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) sector by developing innovative training for the underserved cohort of professionals (and prospective ones) who operate in ICH to promote entrepreneurial initiatives in the sector, enhance its competitiveness and sustain its growth.
ICH is more important for the EU economy than the entire automotive sector: over 300,000 people work in the EU cultural heritage sector. Almost 8 million jobs in the EU are indirectly linked to heritage (tourism, interpretation, security). For each direct job, the heritage sector produces 26.7 indirect jobs. This compares with 6.3 indirect jobs created for each direct job in the car industry.
In this context, Partners will carry out a series of well-defined activities that will lead to the production of tangible and operational results, and develop:
EQF compliant professional profile of ICH professional
Training courses based on innovative topics for the ICH sector, such as management, fundraising, multifunctional work, Digital Cultural Heritage
A pan-EU Open Educational Resource that becomes the focal point for ICH professionals to widen and deepen their skills and competences to be more competitive and respond to the demand of a fast evolving and growing market
The meeting, originally planned in Brussels, was held online due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The partners had the opportunity to introduce themselves by dedicating the first part of the meeting to the presentation of the organisations that will collaborate in the development of NICHE. During the meeting the partners analysed the details of the project plan and precisely defined roles and responsibilities for the implementation of the project activities. After reviewing all the objectives and results to be produced, the partners established the visual identity of the project by choosing, the logo and the website domain that will be online very soon. An action list was defined at the end of the meeting so that all that partners are on the same page in terms of activities, responsibilities and deadlines.
NICHE is co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Commission with a duration of 24 months between 2020/22. The project will be implemented by a partnership of nine organisations from seven European countries (Iceland, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Sweden).
IWS will be the IT partner involved in the project, responsible for the developing of NICHE OER platform, that will be available 24-7 for all the duration of the project and beyond. The platform will host all the deliverables and the intellectual outputs produced in the 6 official languages. Moreover, IWS will follow and implement each steps of the project that will promote entrepreneurship in the ICH sector.

Internet Web Solutions took part in the Kick-off Meeting of FAIRFOOD – Fair Food for a Smart Life, a new Erasmus Plus project under the KA2 Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices – Strategic Partnerships for VET.
The purpose of FairFood project is to contribute to the improvement of health through a nutritional education inspired by the way our ancestors ate, with natural products, typical of the territory, treated in a simple way and consumed in its season, while contributing to preserve a European culinary cultural heritage and to stop climate change. The rich European gastronomic culture counts on the Mediterranean diet, an intangible heritage of Humanity.
There is wide evidence that a correct diet is a source of health and longevity, although socioeconomic changes have led many people to eat poorly with serious risks and long-term costs. Hence, the convenience of returning to traditional food, simpler and healthier, but in danger of being lost due to the change in nutritional habits fostered by globalisation, is paramount.
In this context, the Partnership of FairFood, formed by 6 partners from 4 countries (Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium) among which are the maximum exponents of the Mediterranean diet, brings together universities, experts in the agro-food sector, consultants and educators, for a triple objective:
Identify and preserve ancestral knowledge about products and traditional modalities of production, conservation and consumption of food at risk of disappearing, in the regions of the project, as a way to preserve this cultural legacy
Disseminate this knowledge among the population in general and especially among the youngest, through face-to-face and online training programs, and being present in social networks, with the collaboration of opinion leaders and influencers
Encourage entrepreneurship and business continuity of this type in rural areas, respectful of the environment, to improve their appeal and competitiveness, attract and fix population
The meeting, originally planned in Malaga, Spain, was held online due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The partners had the opportunity to introduce themselves by dedicating the first part of the meeting to the presentation of the organisations that will collaborate in the development of FairFood. During the meeting the partners analysed the details of the project plan and precisely defined roles and responsibilities for the implementation of the project activities. An action list was defined at the end of the meeting so that all that partners are on the same page in terms of activities, responsibilities and deadlines.

On November 3rd 2020, Internet Web Solutions joined the online Kick-Off Meeting of AKKUEurope, a Project co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Commission, which brings together seven Partners from six countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, The north Republic of Macedonia). The KOM, originally planned in Forst, Germany, was held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The aim of the AKKUEurope project is the systematic development and validation of a multimedia toolbox suitable for the target group on the basis of existing instruments, together with the owners and employees of selected SME companies.
SMEs play an important role in the European economy but are particularly affected by a shortage of young talent, as they are unable to compete with the services offered by Medium-Sized Enterprises and large companies in various respects (e.g. job security, pay levels, promotion opportunities). SME can and must react to this by paying special attention to maintaining the workability and employability of their existing workforces. In addition to the classic occupational health and safety measures, measures for the preventive maintenance of work and employability must be implemented to a greater extent, so that employees can and want to carry out their work until the planned retirement age. A comprehensive promotion of workability can help to close this gap.
In this context, Partners will carry out a series of well-defined activities that will lead to the production of tangible and operational results, such as:
Analysis of existing instruments in the partner countries
Adaptation of the instruments and completion of the toolbox
Media implementation of the instruments
AKKUEurope results will be practical and relevant solutions for micro and small businesses, available in multilingual versions, free and without restrictions through the OER platform.
During the meeting, the consortium discussed about the overall implementation of the project, defining timelines and respective duties in the following months. At first, partners will go through an in-depth analysis of the existing instruments and theories for the implementation of workability models at business level. Later on, this cluster of tools will be refined on the basis of targets’ needs and their daily operational context. After translations, the resulting toolbox will be implemented into the AKKUEurope OER Platform: such digital environment will represent a repository of project’s outputs, results, news and contacts.
IWS will be the IT partner involved in the project, responsible for the developing of AKKUEurope OER platform, that will be available 24-7 for all the duration of the project and beyond. The platform will host all the deliverables and the intellectual outputs produced in the 6 official languages. Moreover, IWS will follow and implement each steps of this project that will help SME to enhance the workability of their workforces.

Digital Entrepreneurship for Adult Learners: Internet Web Solutions joined the online Kick-Off Meeting of DEAL
On November 9th 2020, Internet Web Solutions joined the online Kick-Off Meeting of DEAL, a Project co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Commission, which brings together seven organisations from five European countries (Belgium, Iceland, Ireland, Italy and Spain). The KOM, originally planned in Brussels, Belgium, was held in online mode due to COVID-19 restrictions.
DEAL stems from a few trends: according to official reports of the EU Commission, more than 40% of Europeans lack basic digital skills and almost half of them are unemployed and at risk of severe socio-economic marginalisation. In addition, an ageing society is leading to digital and economic divide: low skilled Adult are the ones who are most exposed to risks of socio-economic exclusion due to lack of digital competences.
Nevertheless, as some real case scenario have shown, for Adult People the modern digital era can also represent an entrepreneurial opportunity and not only a threat: the DEAL project aims to trigger and unlock these potential providing strong, reliable, evidence-based and practical digital entrepreneurship and business management knowledge/tools to empower self-employability and entrepreneurship for low-skilled adults.
The DEAL Project tackles various EU priorities:
the promotion and valorisation of active aging
the digitalisation of the European population (with specific regard to low skilled adults)
enhancing and boosting the entrepreneurial spirits across the EU
During the meeting, the consortium discussed about the overall project implementation schedule, defining timelines and respective duties in the following months. In particular, the partnership will upload the OER platform by the end of 2020: the DEAL official website will represent a repository of project’s outputs, results, news and contacts. A mapping activity will follow in order to identify the main trends, issues, best practices and policy support systems in the countries represented in the Consortium.
IWS will be the IT partner involved in the project, responsible for the developing of DEAL OER platform, that will be available 24-7 for all the duration of the project and beyond. The platform will host all the deliverables and the intellectual outputs produced in the 4 official languages. Moreover, IWS will follow and implement each steps of the project that will empower older rural female workers with digital skills.
