The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising how we live, study, work and interact. The real impact of AI in the long term is still unknow, with challenges (data/digital security, adverse impact on jobs) and opportunities.

The reality is that AI is already an integral part of the Higher Education Institution (HEI) ecosystem: students use AI for their coursework, analysis and sometimes compositions. Researchers use AI for research and to support their publications.

Teachers and professors use AI tools to support the plan and execution of teaching activities. Admin staff use AI models in support of some processes.

BAITHEI will develop innovative training and operational tools to equip and empower the academic staff (research and teaching) of HEIs to use purposefully, responsibly and meaningfully AI across the 3 key stages of their work:

  1. Curriculum Development: how to use AI to structure courses, curricula, develop Learning Outcomes, Duration of Modules, etc.
  2. Teaching: how to use AI for engaging teaching methods, develop assignments (individual/group/research/presentation assignments, etc)
  3. Assessment: how to use AI to develop tests, multiple choice quizzes, grading scales depending on LO, and grading essays)
  • Specific Objective 1 is to contribute to the modernisation of teaching, innovation in teaching methods and techniques in HE
  • Specific Objective 2 is to address specific challenges faced by educators in HE settings, such as curricula and course development, and timely assessments
  • Specific Objective 3 is to design of a training suite for educators, leveraging current advancement in machine learning algorithms to design and develop learning content and to assess student performance

For the next three years, the Platform will host and integrate all the main achievements of the consortium; each section of the BAITHEI Platform is a stand-alone library of its corresponding output.
