El 12 de junio de 2025, se celebró la segunda Reunión Transnacional del Proyecto NICHE 2 en Pescara, Italia, en la sede de IDP European Consultants, socio del consorcio del proyecto. La reunión reunió a representantes de todas las organizaciones socias para revisar los avances, debatir los hallazgos clave y planificar los próximos pasos de esta iniciativa estratégica europea.
El proyecto NICHE 2 , con número de referencia 2024-1-IS01-KA220-VET-000243941 , es una asociación de cooperación en el ámbito de la educación y formación profesional (EFP), cofinanciada por el programa Erasmus+ de la Comisión Europea. El proyecto busca dotar a los profesionales del patrimonio cultural inmaterial de los conocimientos y las herramientas necesarios para gestionar y liderar la transición ecológica y digital, en consonancia con los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible. Basándose en el éxito de la iniciativa NICHE anterior, NICHE 2 promueve el desarrollo de capacidades mediante recursos de formación a medida, impulsando la innovación y la sostenibilidad en todo el ecosistema del patrimonio cultural.
Durante la reunión, los socios del proyecto trabajaron en colaboración en la fase de evaluación de necesidades (Paquete de Trabajo 2), un componente clave del proyecto diseñado para identificar los desafíos y las necesidades de formación que enfrentan los profesionales del sector cultural para adoptar prácticas sostenibles. Este mapeo se llevó a cabo tanto a nivel nacional en los países del consorcio (Croacia, Francia, España, Italia e Islandia) como a nivel europeo más amplio. Juntos, los socios analizaron los resultados de esta evaluación para definir las habilidades y los temas que conformarán el programa de formación NICHE 2 , que se desarrollará en los próximos meses. En concreto, los resultados destacaron que las consideraciones sobre el cambio climático rara vez se integran en la formulación de políticas de patrimonio cultural y, por el contrario, el patrimonio cultural permanece en gran medida ausente de los debates sobre política climática, tanto a nivel de la UE como nacional.
La investigación también ha revelado varias brechas clave que dificultan la alineación de las prácticas del PCI con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), en particular los relacionados con la acción climática (ODS 13), las ciudades y comunidades sostenibles (ODS 11) y el consumo y la producción responsables (ODS 12):
En los próximos meses, el consorcio presentará estos hallazgos a los actores del sector cultural —el principal grupo objetivo del proyecto— para codiseñar soluciones de formación innovadoras que respondan directamente a sus necesidades reales. Además, la reunión sirvió de plataforma para coordinar otras actividades del proyecto, como el desarrollo de una red que promueva la sostenibilidad, estrategias de difusión y comunicación, la planificación de la gestión del proyecto y los procesos de control de calidad. On 12th June 2025, the second Transnational Project Meeting of the NICHE 2 project took place in Pescara, Italy, at the headquarters of IDP European Consultants, a partner of the project consortium. The meeting brought together representatives from all partner organisations to review progress, discuss key findings, and plan the next steps of this strategic European initiative
The NICHE 2 project, under the reference number 2024-1-IS01-KA220-VET-000243941, is a Cooperation Partnership in the field of Vocational Education and Training (VET), co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission. The project aims to empower practitioners in the field of Intangible Cultural Heritage with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate and lead the green and digital transition in alignment with sustainable development goals. Building on the success of the previous NICHE initiative, NICHE 2 promotes capacity-building through tailored training resources, fostering innovation and sustainability across the cultural heritage ecosystem.
During the meeting, project partners worked collaboratively on the needs assessment phase (Work Package 2), a key component of the project designed to identify the challenges and training requirements faced by cultural sector professionals in adopting sustainable practices. This mapping exercise was conducted at both national levels in consortium countries — Croatia, France, Spain, Italy and Iceland — and at a broader European level. Together, the partners analysed the results of this assessment to define the skills and topics that will shape the NICHE 2 training course to be developed in the coming months. Specifically, the results highlighted that climate change considerations are still rarely integrated into cultural heritage policymaking, and conversely, cultural heritage remains largely absent from climate policy discussions, both at the EU and national levels.
The research has also revealed several key gaps that hinder the alignment of ICH practices with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to climate action (SDG 13), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), and responsible consumption and production (SDG 12):
In the coming months, the consortium will present these findings to cultural sector stakeholders —the primary target group of the project — in order to co-design innovative training solutions that directly respond to their real-world needs. Additionally, the meeting served as a platform to coordinate further project activities, including the development of a sustainability-promoting network, dissemination and communication strategies, project management planning, and quality assurance processes.
