The DIGIMUSE ENTER project, co-financed by the European Commission under Erasmus+, has officially launched, marking a major step forward in the digital transformation of small museums across Europe. A two-day Kick-Off Meeting was held on November 11 and 12 at the Genti d’Abruzzo Museum in Pescara, where project partners convened to outline the path ahead for strengthening the educational and inclusive role of small museums through innovative digital tools. This project builds on the achievements of the recently concluded DIGIMUSE initiative and aims to further enhance impact and sustainability of its results. The meeting gathered representatives from the DIGIMUSE ENTER partnership, which spans a diverse group of cultural and educational institutions from across Europe:
- Fondazione Genti d’Abruzzo (Italy), the lead partner of DIGIMUSE ENTER, which promotes regional culture and heritage preservation.
- Epic – European Platform for International Cohesion (Italy), an association fostering cross-border cultural cohesion since 2020.
- District Cultural Center (Iceland), managing seven museums and four exhibition spaces to highlight Icelandic heritage.
- IHF asbl (Belgium), a Brussels-based center for education and training with a focus on EU funding opportunities and inclusive digital transformation
- Internet Web Solutions (Spain), an IT and engineering firm based in Malaga, specializing in digital solutions for cultural projects.
- Steni Community Council (Cyprus), stewarding a museum that preserves the history of rural life in Cyprus from the 19th century to the mid-20th century.
- Stichting Schoenenkwartier (Netherlands), a museum dedicated to the heritage of the shoe and leather goods industry.
- Museum of Cetinska Krajina (Croatia), a longstanding institution with a diverse collection that preserves the cultural legacy of the Cetinska region.
A Collaborative Effort for Digital Transformation
During 30 months, DIGIMUSE ENTER will empower participating museums and external cultural operators – with a focus on smaller institutions with a local vocation – to leverage on digital tools to increase accessibility to local history and cultural heritage. Central to the project is the development of tailored training pathways and resources for cultural operators, equipping them with the skills and competences necessary to implement inclusive technologies effectively. DIGIMUSE ENTER will open up cultural experiences to people with fewer opportunities by providing cultural practitioners with the expertise needed to thrive in the digital age, offering visitors immersive and interactive ways to engage with Europe’s diverse cultural landscape.
The Kick-Off Meeting for DIGIMUSE ENTER concluded successfully, with partners from across Europe convening to align on the project’s objectives and collaboratively map out future steps. The two-day session provided a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the project’s scope, planned activities, and key deliverables. Attendees also enjoyed a guided tour of the Genti d’Abruzzo Museum, hosted by Fondazione Genti d’Abruzzo, where they gained firsthand insight into the museum’s rich cultural offerings, including its preservation efforts and heritage collections that testify to the traditions of the Abruzzo Region people.
